Frequently Asked Questions

How do you pronounce your name? 🙃

My name is pronounced tah-MEHR-uh. But I’m not offended if you mispronounce it. That’s happened my whole life. At this point, I also answer to tam-er-uh, forgetting I need to correct people to avoid future awkwardness when they realize they’ve been saying my name wrong for months. 🤭

What is your cancellation policy?

To optimize my schedule and assist as many clients as possible, I require a full 24 (but 48 is greatly appreciated!) hours notice to reschedule or cancel your session. If change/cancellation is under this amount, the full session fee will be applicable.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! You can purchase them online here. They are available in various time and denomination amounts to fit your recipients needs.

What should I expect during my first session?

If you are new to re:Connect, you should schedule a First Visit Consult & Session appointment. This allows for additional time for consultation before your session to determine best application of modalities, tools or techniques for your specific problem areas and concerns. We will sit and “get to know” one another a bit. I will ask you several questions so I can learn how you use your body, what restricts you, what surgeries or injuries you’ve had as well as what illnesses may be limiting you. And then we’ll discuss ideas of ways to treat the issue(s). Then I will step out of the treatment room so you will be able to disrobe to your comfort level and  get onto the table (if we are doing a massage session). If we are doing an assisted stretch session, I will go into a bit more detail as to the how’s and why’s of the process as well as what you will need to do during the session. Then it’s just lay back and let me do my thing. I’ll ask for your help with an active push or movement if I need it, otherwise, this is why I work out. Rest easy knowing you can relax, and I’ve got you.

When our session time is finished, for massage, I will step out of the treatment room so you can get dressed. After any session, I like to do at least a short debrief with my client as to what I found, why that might be there, how we can best resolve that issue, as well as future appointment scheduling. And don’t forget to drink your water! :)

What should I wear to my appointment?

If this is your first session with me, we may not know what is the best treatment option, so it’s best to wear loose, comfortable, stretchy clothes that you’d wear to workout or do a yoga class in. This way if we decide to do assisted stretching, you’re ready! And if we do massage, you can disrobe to your comfort level. Please keep in mind the area(s) of concern. For example, if your quads or hamstrings (upper thigh front or back) is bothering you, it would be ideal to wear shorts so that area can be easily accessed for cupping or scraping (if applicable) pre or post session.

Can a session be customized to my specific needs?

Absolutely—100%! My goal for every session is to customize my work to your specific needs and issues. This means from the first session together, to all follow up sessions. We are different each day, as the day to day stresses, traumas and tensions affect us. This is precisely why I start each session with “ So tell me how your body is.” This is our guiding phrase that helps each of us re:Connect to the moment and the now. Just because we have done more intense work in previous sessions doesn’t mean we can’t do a lighter, relaxation focused session when you need that. Communication is key!

How often should I schedule sessions?

This is an incredibly common question with what I’m sure is an unsatisfying answer for most of my clients: Every body is different; so we will have to see how your body responds to the work to determine next best scheduling. Some prefer monthly (every 4 weeks) for maintenance. While some are more active or feel more tension or stress in their lives and need bi-weekly appointments. Some need weekly stretch sessions. Some need to get the issue they are struggling with under control, so weekly sessions for 2-8 weeks is helpful. It truly just depends on the concern you are dealing with, the swiftness of resolution you are seeking as well as your budget. If the later is a concern, please discuss with me package options.

Do you offer packages or membership plans?

I do have packages available, per request. Please contact me directly for more information.

What types of payment do you accept? Insurance?

I accept all credit cards, cash, and checks as well as gift certificates bought through my website. Because of Kansas’s lack of licensing structure for massage therapy, insurance companies will not allow for claims for massage or bodywork.
